The Lottery Ticket
by Anton Chekhov

In this short story, there lived a middle-class couple that was very much satisfied with their life style.

'Till one day, Ivan Dmitritch and wife Masha
discovered that they have just won
the lottery which led them to too much excitement.
The two then began to daydream about
how nice it would be to have $75,000.
First, Ivan started to think about if the ticket was really his. He started to dream about spending
some money on "real property in the
shape of an estate", on new furnishing, on
their expenses and put some in the bank
to get more interest and of course, to travel.
The more he began to think about it, the more wild his imagination went.

Even if they did not have the money yet,
Ivan was only thinking about himself
and Masha was never in his thoughts.
Ivan even wondered how it would be to have someone fresher and younger than Masha was.
Ivan and Masha began to look at each other with hatred.  Ivan told his wife that instead of the series being 9,499 number 26 just like in their ticket, it is number 446.

All I can say is that, money is definitely the root of all evil.
Just like in this story, it made the couple fight and hate each other
just because of the money that they were about to receive.
I know a few people that have fought each other that are sister.
They fought over the inheritance and did things that made the situation even worse.
As of right now, I wouldn't do that even if I need the money.
After all that experience, I just take it as another lesson to be learned from.
